The Roman shipyard Canados announces the launch of the new Gladiator 571 Blade fast open model.
Canados Gladiator line consists of seven models from 41′ to 96′. The new Gladiator 571 Blade features an exterior design inspired by the line’s best-selling Gladiator 493 and was developed in close collaboration between Canados Engineering and the young Roman design studio Satura Studio.

While retaining the family style, Francesco Viola, Satura’s manager, was asked to incorporate new features such as the sofa above the swim platform to appeal to watersports enthusiasts, the cockpit side wing lockers, the integrated inverted seats in the bow, and the generous garage for the tender.
The outboard version is equipped with three or four of the new Mercury V12-600 hp engines. The design also includes a one-piece hardtop and a double-curved windscreen.

In the basic version the Gladiator 571 Blade reaches 36 knots with two Volvo D11-725 HP up to well over 50 knots. Safety first: as on board the 493, the walk-around concept has been retained and the bulkhead protection is such that even small children will be able to move around the boat.
Hull development
Canados designed the hull and conducted the first computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses. Once the desired results were obtained, the shipyard’s technical department and Satura were able to start the design. In the meantime, they began producing 1/9th scale models to start a tank testing campaign at the CNR (National Research Centre) in Rome.

It took four different tank test sessions to get to where Canados wanted to be. More than 70 laps were taken in the tank to assess hull responsiveness, comfort and stability in various conditions to finalise the naval architecture of the Gladiator 571. With the plan to offer this model with three different propulsion systems, shafts, surface shafts and outboards, runs were made at 30, 35, 40, 50, 55 and 60 knots to ensure that manoeuvrability was optimised at all speeds.
The Gladiator 571 Blade will be constructed entirely of vacuum E-Glass, while all components such as the hard top, roll bar, outdoor galley, sofas and sundeck will be made of carbon fibre. As a result, the boat is 10-30% lighter than its closest competitors.

The interior of the 571 Blade was left to Satura’s choice in terms of architecture, with inspiration taken from the automotive world. As usual on board a Gladiator, all upholstery is made of Poltrona Frau® Italian leather, the same leather used by Ferrari for its seats.
As part of the standard, the Gladiator 571 Blade is offered with three different layouts: 2 cabins, 2 bathrooms, saloon and captain’s cabin; 3 cabins, 2 bathrooms and saloon; 3 cabins, 2 bathrooms and captain’s cabin.
