Swiss skiing star, world champion and Olympic gold medallist Marco Odermatt swapped his skis for an America’s Cup-style training session this week with Alinghi Red Bull Racing in Barcelona. He was BoatOne’s first guest, cycling on board during a training session.
Three-time reigning World Cup champion Marco Odermatt had the opportunity to go behind the scenes of the Alinghi Red Bull Racing campaign this week. He spent a day at the team’s base in Barcelona and sailed on BoatOne, just a week after its christening.
Marco’s contribution on board
During the training session, Marco Odermatt was one of the four riders on board, whose contribution was essential in adjusting the sails and manoeuvring the mast. His power and sensitivity on the race course also proved invaluable at sea, contributing to the success of the experience.
Cyclist Franco Noti described Marco as a legend in Switzerland and underlined the honour of having an athlete of his calibre on board. Captain Arnaud Psarofaghis also praised Marco’s commitment, emphasising how important his contribution was for the team.
