Tankoa S501, fourth hull launched in Genoa

The fourth hull in Tankoa’s successful 50-metre all-aluminium series, designed by Francesco Paszkowski, touched the water for the first time after her technical launch on Saturday 19 March.

Born on speculation, this unit is the first in the series to feature a swimming pool on the main deck forward. It also draws on Bintador’s hybrid propulsion experience to provide three modes of navigation: diesel-mechanical, diesel-electric and full-electric.

“This second hybrid-powered yacht confirms our being at the forefront of technological research to meet the needs of even the most sophisticated owners,” says Vincenzo Poerio, CEO of Tankoa. “This time we have used the MAN/Siemens system and we are very satisfied with the performance in the various configurations.”

By selecting the most appropriate sailing mode, fuel consumption can be reduced, comfort can be improved during night sailing and the working time of the main systems, particularly the generators, can be extended. The environmentally friendly nature of the hybrid propulsion also allows the owner to access protected areas that are off limits to other yachts.

Outfitting of the yacht will continue at the yard before her delivery at the end of April.

Work continues on the fifth hull in the 50-metre series, with conventional propulsion, and delivery is expected by the end of the year, while a sixth hull has been launched on speculation.

Other projects under construction are the T580 designed by Paszkowski, Luca Dini’s first T55 Sportiva and Giorgio M. Cassetta’s T450.
