Baglietto launches a challenge to young architects

Baglietto launches a contest for young architects. Contestants will have to design a micro itinerant museum for the recovery and enhancement of the shipyard’s historical archive, a witness to over 160 years of history.

Together with YAC – a leading company in the organisation of architectural competitions – Baglietto is launching an ideas competition aimed at designing itinerant exhibition spaces that tell the story of the shipyard.

“The more than one hundred years of history of our shipyard is a heritage not only of our company but, I think I can say without fear of contradiction, of the whole country” comments Diego Michele Deprati, CEO of Baglietto.

Baglietto: the historical archive

Baglietto boasts a vast historical heritage, made up of registers, photographs, drawings, patents and models. In order to pay tribute to this heritage, the contest involves the creation of a travelling micro-museum. The aim is to tell the story of the more than 160 years of the shipyard, its origins, its iconic models and the current state of its production. A temporary travelling exhibition that, as Raffaella Daino, Baglietto’s Head of Marketing and Communication, declared, will host different narrative strategies, giving freedom to young architects.

The prize money, worth a total of € 15,000, will be distributed among the winning projects selected by an exceptional jury including, among others, leading names in international architecture and design, such as Lars Almgren (Dorte Mandrup), Melodie Leung (Snøhetta), James Whitaker (Whitaker studio), Ryohei Koike (BIG), Francesco Paszkowski (Francesco Paszkowski Design).

The prize-giving ceremony includes an award for the top 3 and 2 gold mentions for teams formed solely by students. Winners will be announced in June.
