The new flagship from Forlì is the Ferretti Yachts 1000, a blend of the nautical tradition that the yard has perfected during over fifty years of existence

AS YOU GO ONBOARD THE FERRETTI YACHTS 1000 YOU QUICKLY GET THE FEELING THAT YOU ARE ON A WELCOMING, family-friendly boat that is like a home but, at the same time, is safe and reassures you that it can handle the sea day after day and in varying conditions. The first special feature of this new model is the length overall – over thirty metres, a size that the yard hadn’t tried before and which opens up many new possibilities.
After making the debut at the Venice Boat Show, where it was one of the most awaited new arrivals, the yacht immediately gives you the sense that the design is focused on the idea of wellbeing, both in terms of the exterior and the interiors. The external design maintains the family feeling from the other smaller boats from the Ferretti fleet, but the addition of the two lateral windows in the stern and amidships make the profile still more harmonious in this respect which, overall, provides a better balance between full and empty spaces and a very contemporary image.
The furnishing of the living room is by Minotti: the Alexander sofa, the table (the Side model), and theTape armchair. The table in the dining area has been made to measure, while the Magda seats are from Cattelan Italia.
Like all Ferretti yachts, the exteriors feature white fibreglass and also, for the first time in the brand’s history, the Ferretti Yachts 1000 also uses carbon fibre in the hardtop and some parts of the superstructure. There is also a significant amount of teak, which in the stern beach area is present on the curve of the gate hatch, on the gangways and the stairs going up to the flybridge. But it is also used on the external control console, which gives a very pleasant look. The attention that this boat pays to the relationship between people and space also comes out in the way it has two different choices of mood for the interiors: Classic, a style with soft, harmonious colours with little contrast, and Contemporarywhich has a palette that uses cooler shades, with lighter colours and stronger contrasts.
The master suite is forward of the main deck and has a large walk-in cupboard, a sofa, a night area with a double bed featuring a frame in sepia-coloured nubuck and a full-beam bathroom, which cleverly combines marble and wood. The cream-coloured bed linen has been specially made for Ferretti Yachts by Gentili Mosconi.
I had the opportunity of going on board the first in the Ferretti Yachts 1000 series that is done in Classic: the warm tones create a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere, the full-height windows mean you get a nice view of the sea and the walnut used for the interior cladding creates a homogeneous space that is pleasing to the eye. The walnut is used in various surfaces of the internal areas: the grainy and decisive tone for furnishing, grooved and softer for the walls and ribbed to emphasise features. The parquet has the same tone as the furniture and walls, and the feeling of space is increased by a ceiling in a very light colour that reflects the nuances of the sofas, armchairs and seats, while the cushions and pictures give an amusing and lively chromatic touch to the room. With the walls and floor in the same type of wood, and contrasting with the practically white ceiling, there is a suggestion of the old navy style tradition, when the characteristic colour of the mahogany of the vertical surfaces and the flooring were in contrast to the white on the ceiling: on the Ferretti Yachts 1000 this concept is brought right up to date with the use of contemporary tones and materials, but ones that nevertheless keep the historical memory alive.
The Ferretti Yachts 1000 has been created on two bridges and can house as many as ten guests in five cabins: the master suite is forward of the main deck, while the four guest cabins are located on the lower deck. The same warm and welcoming atmosphere of the living room can be found in the owner’s suite. It uses the same colours and they are enriched by the sepia of the nubuck bed frame, which are emphasised by the LED lights encased in it, and which create an unusual indirect light effect that gives the furniture a lighter look. The full-beam master bathroom is located behind two smoked glass doors and perfectly flows from the rest of the area thanks to the use of the same parquet flooring.
The first boat of the Ferretti Yachts 1000 series has been fitted with a pair of MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines developing 2,638 mhp, giving it a top speed of 28 knots and a 24-knot cruising speed.
The bridge console has been fitted with four 24-inch multi-touch screens and incorporates the integrated Loop technology by Naviop-Simrad which gives control of the main propulsion, navigation, monitoring and appliances functions using a single interface.
The bridge is on the mezzanine floor, and can be accessed from the port side by the crew, and from starboard by the owner. The customised leather chair has been made by Poltrona Frau; the adjoining mini-sofa with a side table allows guests to follow how the boat is skippered from close up. But what struck me most about the Ferretti Yachts 1000 is the amount of living space and how the exterior spaces have been optimised.
The Ferretti Yachts 1000 is laid out across two decks and can house up to ten guests in five cabins: the master suite is located on the main deck, while the four guest cabins are on the lower deck. The headroom indoors is over two metres.
The flybridge covers a full 55 m² and allows you to reach the open-air area in the bow directly. That means it is a place of complete privacy, almost as if it were a private multi-level oasis, furnished symmetrically with sofas and dinettes that can also become a large sun lounger. The area covered by the hardtop, with glass strips that can be turned and moved towards the stern, has a dining area furnished with a sofa, the Eden model by Roda sofa customised for Ferretti Yachts, and two tables that can be joined together.
The ten square metres multi-functional galley is very well organised: it plays with light shades which give it a distinctly luminous feel and is equipped with – amongst other things – a double oven, a side-by-side fridge with over 500 litres capacity, a mini wine cellar and a coffee machine set in the wall.
Sober, elegant and harmonious: the new Ferretti Yachts 1000, designed by Filippo Salvetti (exteriors) and the ideaeITALIA studio for the interiors, means you can experience the sea in a comfortable, family atmosphere.
The cockpit is a large area that is bounded to stern by a glass parapet and is fitted out with two sofas facing one another and a central teak table that can be raised to be either a coffee or dining table.
The aft part of the flybridge, which has three Piper model Roda sofas, is a beautiful relaxation area. Aft of the main deck there is forty metres of open-air living space, with a real beach club where the mini-beach and the cockpit link directly to one another and create a single wellbeing area right next to the water. The four chaises longues are very beautiful and are incorporated into the stern, from where the surrounding nature can really be enjoyed when the boat is at anchor.
