Sunreef Yachts celebrated its 20th anniversary this year at the Monaco Yacht Show. The Yacht Club de Monaco held Sunreef Yachts anniversary event on September 30th, bringing together partners, customers, and ambassadors for a one-of-a-kind evening celebrating two decades of history.
The event drew visitors from all around the world, including former Polish President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Lech Walesa, sustainability entrepreneur Nico Rosberg, and professional explorer Mike Horn.
Sailing into the future
During the Monaco Yacht Show, the company announced the signature of a building contract for a Sunreef 43M Eco superyacht – the world’s biggest electric leisure catamaran. The yacht will be equipped with composite-integrated solar panels, a hydro-generation system, electric engines and performance sails.
Sunreef Yachts Founder and President Francis Lapp took the stage, together with Co-Founder and CTO Nicolas Lapp, to share some exclusive news on a pioneering hydrogen boat project. Sunreef Yachts was recently commissioned to construct an 80-foot sailing catamaran that combines hydrogen power and electric propulsion to offer unparalleled autonomy for a new level of eco-conscious cruising.
Both the appliances and the catamaran’s engines will be powered by hydrogen. Sunreef Yachts’ innovative solar power system with cells entirely incorporated into the composite bodywork will also be used on the boat. The company’s R&D department is now working on a technology that would use solar electricity to generate hydrogen on board.
Moreover, the electric Sunreef 80 Eco Marie-Joseph was showcased in Monaco for the very first time, alongside the Sunreef 80 Power Kokomo. The electric 80-footer was a real show-stopper and hosted many VIP viewings including an official visit of HSH Prince Albert II.
