Australian luxury motor yacht builder Riviera has reached a further milestone with its popular Sport Yacht Platinum Edition collection after the delivery of the 100th 5400 Sport Yacht to a new owner in New Zealand.
Riviera’s owner, Rodney Longhurst, expressed his great pride for the entire Riviera team. This success comes in conjunction with the company’s 40th anniversary.
Number 100 of the Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition was handed over to a new owner in New Zealand by dealer representative R Marine Flagship in Auckland.
The 5400 is the owner’s second Riviera, who already owned a Riviera 4000 Offshore for 14 years. “I chose the 5400 Sport Yacht because I like a one-level boat style. I definitely wanted a social motor yacht, an entertainer, and the 5400 has all the features I need, especially the size,” she said.
Although it’s a big step forward in size, the 5400 Sport Yacht is also easily manageable for solo sailing. “The Volvo Penta IPS (Integrated Propulsion System) joystick controls on the 5400 have made my 30 years of boat management knowledge obsolete. With relatively little experience and training, you can become an expert quite quickly and manage the boat with confidence,” added the owner.
Dean Horgan, R Marine Flagship’s principal dealer, commented, “Riviera has a very strong following in New Zealand, and through the success of the 5400 Sport Yacht, we are delighted to continue to play our part in the company’s history.”
The Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition features a sundeck on the forward deck and a sunroof in the cockpit that opens at the touch of a button. A large tender garage is accessible from the large boarding platform. The cockpit with two twin lounges, the dining area, and the barbecue, flows to the galley aft and the large salon through a large sliding glass door.
The sports-inspired helm console offers excellent visibility and ergonomics. An L-shaped lounge at the bow, next to the helm, offers guests a panoramic view. The three-cabin, two-bathroom layout, or an optional two-bed cabin layout with lower lounge area. Owners have at their disposal a full-beam cabin with a king-size bed. Hull windows and opening portholes increase the sense of connectivity with the outside.
The Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht boasts a speed of over 34 knots thanks to Volvo Penta D11 IPS 950 D11 turbo diesel engines that deliver 725 hp each.
Control of the yacht during docking or in confined spaces is ensured by one of two joysticks located at the helm and in the cockpit. Onboard systems are centrally controlled through the CZone digital switching system and touchscreen navigation via the Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit and integrated Garmin electronics.
