Owners and their boats: Antonio Collarino and his Sirena 58

Antonio Collarino, the proud owner of a 58-foot craft from Sirena Yachts and a man who loves life and the sea, sails his boat with profound respect for what it represents. After Parsifal, which offered the adventure of voyaging, he now has Avalon, somewhere to rediscover himself.

Somewhere around Britain, shrouded in thick fog, is Avalon, the isle of glass. The Celts saw it as a magical place of transformation, somewhere to get to know your true self. And the same applies to the Sirena 58, with Antonio Collarino, the boat’s owner who has been traversing the Mediterranean Sea for over 30 years, at the helm.

My boat is called Avalon because it is above all a place where I can find myself. I used to like to sail quickly. But now I want to travel”, he says, adjusting the rudder from the dashboard on the flybridge. We’re in Marina di Pisa. Antonio and his wife Isolina invited us to join them on board to test out this new yacht from the Turkish company known predominantly for its Germán Frers-designed sailing boats, but which also entered the motorboat sector a few years ago.
