Mercury Marine today unveiled the first V10 outboards: these are the new 350 and 400hp Verado® 5.7L outboard engines.
The new V10 outboard engines at cruising speed promise 45 per cent less noise than leading competitors. They are compatible with the latest Mercury SmartCraft® technologies and, upon request, available with a 48V/12V dual-mode alternator for perfect synchronisation with Navico Group’s Fathom® e-Power System. This is an integrated lithium-ion auxiliary power management system that eliminates the need for an on-board generator.

“The new Mercury Verado V10 outboards have everything boaters are looking for in a 350 and 400hp engine,” are the words of Chris Drees, president of Mercury Marine. “They are powerful, smooth and quiet. They have many range-enhancing features typical of our high-powered range. They also offer the same exceptional sailing experience that has made Verado engines legendary. The Verado V10 outboards cement Mercury’s position as the market leader in the high horsepower outboard segment”.
Weighing in at just 316 kg (316 lbs.) and with 26″ (66 cm) mounting centres, the same as the market-leading V8 outboards, the V10 engines maximise compatibility with current boat configurations. The lightweight and compact design of these engines delivers the performance boaters are looking for, making them perfect for multi-engine applications or boat re-engineering.
5.7L V10 engine with natural aspiration system
The new platform is the industry’s first naturally aspirated V10 outboard. It boasts a displacement of an impressive 5.7 litres, the highest in its class, as well as a performance-oriented twin camshaft design synonymous with extraordinary speed and acceleration. A 150A alternator, the most powerful in its class, rapidly charges the on-board batteries and intelligently supports the boat’s electrical system.

An all-new foot
The platform’s new hydrodynamic foot is designed to improve performance and longevity while maximising range. That’s why Mercury designed the new Revolution X propeller as the perfect match for the Verado V10. A larger diameter and wider blades combined with the high ratio of the new foot ensures excellent manoeuvrability, brilliant acceleration and high efficiency at both low speeds and full throttle.
Tuned for maximum performance on standard fuel (95 RON), these outboards feature efficiency-enhancing technologies, a closed loop fuel system and Advanced Range Optimisation (ARO).
Intuitive features and advanced technologies
Adaptive Speed Control (ASC) maintains engine speed despite changes in load or conditions, so surfing bigger waves becomes easier, and low-speed cruising is smoother. Transient Spark technology electronically adjusts ignition timing to optimise power at low revs.
Verado V10 engines will also be compatible with a new Mercury electric steering system, designed for boats with multiple outboard engines and shipping from February 2023. The new system will ensure more effective rudder responsiveness, greatly simplify manoeuvring and reduce power consumption by more than 50 per cent.
“We challenged our engineers to improve acceleration and overall performance with the new Verado V10 outboards, while making them lighter and quieter than competitor engines in this power range,” said Tim Reid, Vice President of Product Development and Design at Mercury Marine. “Once again they have exceeded expectations, even incorporating technologies that make operation and maintenance intuitive.”
