Jeanneau Yachts, new 55-footer launch announced

Following the recent launches of the Jeanneau Yachts 60 and 65, the Jeanneau Yachts line of sailing yachts is being revamped with the launch of a new 55-footer.

The Jeanneau Yachts 55 (17 metres) is the result of Jeanneau’s collaboration with French naval architect Philippe Briand and the London-based Winch Design studio.

There are many new features compared to previous models, starting with the cockpit divided into two distinct spaces with three drums, two of which allow private access to the guest cabins. Two versions of rigging (classic or with furling mast) are available on board, while two-thirds of the yacht are dedicated to the owner’s suite.

Space and comfort

The aft cockpit is entirely dedicated to relaxation, with lounges on each side, one U-shaped and one L-shaped. This area is equipped with a retractable hydraulic bathing platform, providing direct access to the water.

The forward cockpit, dedicated to manoeuvrability, is equipped with two helm steering wheels, located at the bow, and winches within easy reach. This space can be entirely covered by a hard top. This is also where the private entrances to the two guest cabins are located, as well as the main companionway to the immense owner’s suite.

Ease of movement on board also remains a ‘must’ for the Jeanneau Yachts 55: the flush deck features integrated, wrap-around sidedecks that are slightly inclined, facilitating movement around the cockpit perimeter. From the transom to the main deck, the flow of movement follows the axis of the boat.

Design and layout

Designed as a private apartment with two guest cabins, each accessible from the outside, the interior of the Jeanneau Yachts 55, lit by natural light, is entirely dedicated to the owners. A unique three-cabin version is offered. Spacious and harmonious living spaces subtly combine well-being and safety, refinement and relaxation.

To starboard, the galley overlooks the large L-shaped saloon. Handrails and numerous handholds contribute to safety and ease of movement on board while sailing.

Forward of this open living space, which includes the saloon and galley, the master cabin has a large port berth, multiple storage compartments and a dressing table. The bathroom fills the forward beam. An optional skipper’s cabin can be added.
