Cala del Forte, the new Ventimiglia marina owned by Monaco Ports, was officially inaugurated. The event was attended by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and Giovanni Toti, President of Liguria Region.
The authorities were welcomed at the quay by Aleco Keusseoglou, President of Monaco Ports, Gian Battista Borea d’Olmo, CEO of Cala del Forte, Daniel Realini, construction coordinator, and Marco Cornacchia, Port Director. The parterre of guests was completed by representatives of the religious, military and public authorities, both Monegasque and Italian, by the owners of the boats moored at Cala del Forte and by the owners of the numerous shops located throughout the commercial area of the marina.
Institutional speeches were followed by the cutting of the ribbon by H.S.H. Albert II and the Mayor of Ventimiglia, Gaetano Scullino. The performance of the Monegasque and Italian national anthems brought the event to its natural conclusion, while the moored boats paid homage to the ceremony with the traditional deafening sound of their sirens to the applause of the guests. A strong signal of restart for the territory and the whole region.
Cala del Forte – Ventimiglia
Cala del Forte, 7.9 miles from the Principality, has 178 berths from 6.5 to 70 metres in length. It has many features that make it an avant-garde port: photovoltaic panels on the Service Tower, electric car and boat recharging stations, air-conditioned waste collection areas, differentiated waste collection also for restaurants, low-consumption LED port lighting, electric golf car and forklift truck. The project also aims to promote cross-border cooperation and generate new jobs.
The state concession is the longest in the Mediterranean and will expire in 2094. Security is guaranteed with 24-hour guarded access and 70 CCTV cameras. 577 parking spaces, 15,000 m2 of promenades and gardens, 35 shops (restaurants, bars, offices and services). The shipyard (2,700 m²), in concession to the Cantieri di Imperia company, has the capacity for hauling and launching yachts of up to 30 metres. A limited number of berths are available under a 40-year concession.
