Mercury Marine’s Avator, on display for the first time at the 2022 Miami International Boat Show, precedes the formal launch of electric outboards in 2022-2023.
“We are thrilled to formally announce this new evolution of our vision of a future that only Mercury Marine can achieve,” were the words of Chris Drees, president of Mercury Marine. “Electrification is of strategic importance to us, and this Concept provides a preview of how we intend to fulfill our commitment to become an industry leader in both internal combustion products and electric propulsion. We take efficiency to a new level, creating new ways to enjoy the boating experience.”
Ever closer to nature. The Avator Concept commits Mercury to sustainability, offering the prospect of sailing with zero direct emissions. Mercury also intends to use electrification to make boating more accessible with features such as interchangeable batteries and improved portability.
“We believe features such as easily replaceable batteries and quiet operation have great appeal among current and potential boaters. We expect our electric range to grow in the future, and we will continue to pay attention to consumer feedback and monitor trends,” commented Tim Reid, Vice President of Product Development and Design at Mercury Marine.
“Our team is condensing all its knowledge of how consumers use our products into Avator, creating an electric propulsion system that will set a new standard in the boating industry,” concludes Chris Drees.
