By strengthening its presence in the nautical sector, the Antonini Group has founded the Antonini Navi brand. The project was created by Aldo Manna and fully supported by the Antonini family, with an investment of over ten million euros.
The new brand is based on three pillars: the wide range of technical and commercial know-how in the world of superyachts, the strong entrepreneurial skills of the Antonini family and the strategic position of Cantiere Navale Marina di Pertusola di Muggiano, in the Gulf of La Spezia, one of the most famous yachting hubs in the world. The shipyard will avail itself of a team composed of the leading experts in the sector, all rigorously from La Spezia.
Antonini Navi will be dedicated to the high-end nautical services of the Antonini Group. The brand’s objective is to guarantee the market an all-round offer, from the construction of custom yachts up to 70 meters in length to refitting, after-sales and mooring services for superyachts, as well as continuing to build for third parties as has been the case for years. To complete the ambitious proposal, finally, there will be the creation of a line of yachts between 30 and 50 meters in length, entrusted to the award-winning architect and designer Fulvio De Simoni from La Spezia and called Crossover, to underline its innovative and transversal nature.
The brand was born from the mind of Aldo Manna, who was the first to identify the unexpressed potential of the Marina di Pertusola site and the entrepreneurial strength of a solid and structured group, the Antonini Group, founded in the immediate post-war period and still managed by the Antonini family, in the persons of the brothers Massimo, Lorenzo, and Simone Antonini.
The Antonini Group S.p.A., from the second half of the 1940s to the present day, operates in the Oil & Gas sector, distinguishing itself for its skills and capabilities in the global execution of Offshore and Onshore projects, providing engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing and commissioning services for large oil platforms. The Group has three production sites located in different areas including Olmec Unit, Oma Unit, and the Muggiano Shipyard.
The Group has expanded and specialized over the years to become an increasingly solid and world-renowned reality, boasting an average annual turnover of over 50 million euros that today makes its debut in the yachting world alongside the biggest leaders in the sector. The wealth of knowledge and technical skills in the fields of engineering, design, construction, assembly, and maintenance, represents a solid starting point for the project.
An industrial reality consolidated to date, which has seen a great rationalization of its operational resources and which always sets new goals in the areas that have historically seen it excel ─ such as Oil & Gas, with the construction of large steel structures, industrial plant engineering, the production of pressure equipment and the maintenance of complex plants ─, focusing on the expertise of its staff and the high technological level of the structures.
On this basis, Simone Antonini, Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Antonini Navi, explained: “Antonini Navi is a dream that has always been in the hearts of our family. Already in the 1980s our grandfather and founder of the company Walter had identified the enormous potential of the Pertusola site as a major hub for pleasure boating and related services. For this reason we enthusiastically took Aldo’s proposal to found Antonini Navi together. Besides being a great childhood friend, Aldo is in fact a person who fully recognizes himself with the values of our company: family, hard work and determination. Aldo is, then, a true professional in the superyacht construction and marketing sector, the right man to complete our team, increasingly determined to achieve new goals.
“Our family – continues Simone Antonini – believes a lot in this project and for this reason has decided to convert the entire area of the La Spezia yard by investing ten million euros. We have thus managed to enter with great determination into a sector in which we already operate with refitting and production projects for third parties. We will never stop looking beyond”.
Aldo Manna, creator and partner of Antonini Navi, also commented: “I am honored to be an integral and active part of the new brand. It is an important, solid and concrete project: the Antonini family still manages the industrial group of the same name with that ‘family culture’ for which personal and human relationships are always at the basis of everything and are the ‘keystone’ of the business model. Clients today more than ever feel the need to confront and interact directly with the ownership of a construction site, and not with simple investment fund managers”.
The Antonini Group today can count on 200 employees and 50 collaborators, some of whom will be employed in the new project which focuses on four distinct areas of action but all located in the Marina di Pertusola, home of the Antonini Navi shipyard.
The first is for the construction of megayachts on behalf of third parties: shipyards or other companies in the sector subcontract the construction of some lines to Antonini Navi, which makes use of professional plant and equipment for the manufacture of steel hulls and superstructures and a state-of-the-art production structure.
The second area of action consists in the production of full custom yachts: Antonini Navi promises great versatility, being able to respond to any request, both in terms of size and category. In fact, the know-how of engineers, craftsmen and professionals is combined with advanced design systems, innovative technologies and extensive processing facilities.
The third area of expertise is that of refitting: ordinary and extraordinary maintenance work inside the shipyard on yachts of any size and any level of wear and tear. This is a field in which the Group has already operated, collaborating with important historical realities, including the famous school ship Vespucci, a wonderful 1930s sailing ship belonging to the Italian Navy.
The fourth and last area is the production of a range of displacement and semi-displacement yachts from 30 to 50 metres, signed by the designer Fulvio de Simoni, Creative Director of the brand whose many years of activity have revolutionized the aesthetic precepts of the nautical scene. The new line, Crossover, is a concept that best represents the Group’s DNA and will consist of a series of yachts with a voluminous and “soft” hull and contemporary lines. The first unit that will be built will be the 130′ Crossover, a 40-metre long 40-metre that condenses in its entirety all the special features and potential of the line.
