A mosaic inside a jewel. Chromatic embroidery woven with tiny glass mosaic tiles are blended with precious metals and stones
THE COLLECTIONS OF SICIS JEWELRY, THE ITALIAN MAISON OF LUXURY MOSAICS, carry within themselves the great skill of an ancient art which has evolved over the centuries through constant research and technical development. The company in Ravenna, a city where the Art of mosaic was at its best in the Byzantine era, for some time has offered precious watches made using the micro-mosaic technique, which has been known since the second half of the ’700. It consists of very small tiles obtained thanks to ‘spinning glass paste’ and the ability to mix more color shades to produce almost infinite shades, a working method developed by the mosaic art teachers who already at that time contributed to the development of the noble art of gold. This is how tiny magical works of art, small kaleidoscopic masterpieces perfectly executed and matched to the most precious stones are created. Among the Jewels of the Maison, there’s Queztal, a necklace which reproduces and interprets a bird revered and protected by ancient people, which is still a symbol of freedom and independence. It’s made in 18 ct gold, embellished with 15.11 cts of diamonds and 10.15 cts of tanzanite, to delineate shapes and enhance the rainbow shades. It has taken over a hundred hours of work to realize the micro-mosaic.
