The collaboration between Winch Design and Heesen is proceeding: the keel of the 80m M/Y Cosmos was successfully laid.
Jim Dixon (Director, Yachts and Aviation) and James Russell (Associate, Yacht Exteriors) attended the traditional ceremony for the formal start of the yacht’s construction together with the Heesen team, the owner’s team.
Winch Design was appointed to carry out Cosmos’ exterior design and general arrangement which will reflect its owner’s vision and lifestyle. Standing out is a fully rated helipad which is capable of hosting a 6 passenger Eurocopter EC135, that can be converted into an open-air cinema when required. Cosmos will feature an 8-meter glass-bottomed swimming pool on the main deck, complete with waterfall and vast beach club on the lower deck.
Available for the owner, there is also a limousine tender, also penned by Winch Design. With Cosmos, Winch aimed to retain Heesen’s sporty DNA, while adding a futuristic spin. The silhouette of the superyacht is characterized by elegant, long lines, reaching from the aft lower deck, smoothly over the top of the sun deck, ending in contact with the bow.
Accommodation is for up to 12 guests in six cabins: the master suite on the main deck, a VIP cabin on the bridge-deck and four lower deck cabins. The crew area is able to accommodate up to 19 people.
In the engine room, Project Cosmos will feature four MTU 4000 M73 engines, reaching 19,000 hp. This propulsion package will allow the 80-meter yacht to reach a speed of 30 knots.
Cosmos is set to be delivered in April 2022.
