Nautor’s Swan, in the face of recent regatta cancellations, has decided to host an alternative event for sailors eager to return to the water, in the safe and controlled environment of Marina di Scarlino, Tuscany. The event will be held from September 9 to 12.

The Swan Tuscany Challenge will offer a way to return to sailing for four days of racing in the beautiful setting of Tuscan waters. The event will host the Nautor Swan racing community within a positive environment that is attentive to safety protocols in order to protect the health of all those involved.

Participants will be divided into four classes, namely ClubSwan 50, Swan 45, ClubSwan 42 and ClubSwan 36, have confirmed their presence at this first edition of the Swan Tuscany Challenge. The event, which is part of the League of Mediterranean Nations, represents the introduction to the most important competitive event of the year: the Swan One Design World, which will be held in the same place from 13 to 17 October.

Talented sailors of the caliber of Markus Wieser and Michele Ivaldi, tactician and navigator of ClubSwan 50 Hatari, will make their debut in this event; Giovanni Cassinari for ClubSwan 36 Sixth Sense, after the experience gained during the America’s Cup; the multi-decorated Jochen Schueman and Tommaso Chieffi will be on board of ClubSwan 50 OneGroup and ClubSwan 50 Cuordileone respectively.

“The Swan Tuscany Challenge was conceived as an alternative for those boats that have committed and planned to participate in the Rolex Swan Cup in Porto Cervo, to avoid the disappointment that cancellation could cause. I particularly appreciate the fact that Marina di Scarlino, together with the ClubSwan Swan Racing Office, created and organized the Swan Tuscany Challenge in less than a day, giving boats and crews the opportunity to compete in such a challenging event,” says Enrico Chieffi, Vice President of the Nautor Group.
