Sanlorenzo renews for the third consecutive year its participation at FuoriSalone in Milan with the installation “From shipyard to courtyard”. With a clear reference to the wooden structures of the shipwrights, the designer Piero Lissoni reinterprets the hull of a yacht SX112, on a scale of 1:1.
“From shipyard to courtyard” will be set up as part of the exhibition event Interni Human Spaces, within the framework of the Università Statale of Milan. Piero Lissoni, Sanlorenzo’s art director, explains: “As if the sea had dried up, the silhouette of a yacht has remained placidly laid within the 18th century courtyard of the State University, a creature of which only the skeleton that tells of its original purity can be recognized”.
An ideal link between Sanlorenzo‘s past, present and future, in which the hull, which represents the initial phase of the yacht’s construction, recounts, on the one hand, the mastery of the craftsmen who have always shaped these sophisticated artefacts and, on the other, anticipates a new model that will be presented in 2020.
This is the SX112 chosen as the protagonist of the installation and which will expand the SX crossover line, officially launched in 2017 with the first SX88 yacht, followed in 2018 by SX76. Both models were presented at their debut in the interior design versions signed by Piero Lissoni. Through this innovative project, he proposed for the first time an open space yacht, a “social boat”.
Sanlorenzo has always integrated transversal worlds into its DNA. The company’s ties with the world of design have allowed it to propose a new way of living the sea, involving authoritative designers such as Dordoni Architetti, Antonio Citterio, Patricia Viel and Piero Lissoni in the interior design projects that have revolutionised the approach to nautical design.
At the same time, the art world, through its collaborations with important cultural institutions such as La Triennale di Milano, during FuoriSalone 2017 and 2018, with Galleria Tornabuoni Arte, with which Sanlorenzo organised exhibitions on board its own yachts in conjunction with Art Basel Miami Beach in 2016 and the 57th Art Biennale in Venice.
Finally, the latest with Art Basel, the most significant modern and contemporary art fair on the international scene with the signing in 2018 of the global partnership agreement for the annual appointments in Hong Kong, Basel and Miami Beach.
The next Art Basel event in Basel 2019 will see the participation of the company with an engaging installation in the Collectors Lounge designed by Piero Lissoni in homage to Piero Dorazio, a well-known Italian abstract painter.
