Scheduled for October 20, 2020, NXT is a round table organized by Oceanco with the aim of discussing cross-sector innovation. The final goal? Zero impact on the environment.
Oceanco NXT brings together a cohort of luminaries from the world of yachting, technology and design to combine innovation and sustainability. The initiative assumes that while the external and internal style of superyachts has progressed significantly over time, many deeply rooted technical standards have no longer been questioned, resulting in a stagnation of innovation.
In order to achieve a real change, according to Oceanco, the joint effort of a visionary yacht builder alongside nonconformist owners is necessary. The shipyard has shown with facts its adherence to this philosophy: in 2013 it completed the world’s first Passenger Yacht Code, Equanimity; in 2016 it delivered the 86m Aquijo, the world’s largest ketch; in 2017 Oceanco delivered 110m Jubilee, the largest yacht built in the Netherlands; and recently delivered 106.7m Black Pearl, the world’s largest sailing yacht and the most environmentally friendly.
The challenges and solutions of these superyachts gave birth to Oceanco’s innovative LIFE project, which debuted on board the 109m Bravo Eugenia, characterized by long lengths and the use of a hybrid propulsion system optimized to improve efficiency by 30% and minimize the space for technical equipment, through a single level engine room.
“Oceanco NXT represents our commitment and fundamental belief that the best way to set new benchmarks is to co-create them with experts from a wide range of industries – not just yachting. In creating Oceanco NXT, we look for partners who share a common ambition to innovate and create a sustainable path for tomorrow’s yachts,” comments Marcel Onkenhout, CEO of Oceanco.
