Damen Shipyards Group has appointed Marc van Heyningen as new Chief Operations Officer, he will take up the post from April 1.
Marc van Heyningen (pictured) comes from Fluor Corporation, a U.S. giant in the field of engineering and construction of plants, ships, and major works, succeeds Jan-Wim Dekker, who became Chief Commercial Officer from January 1. His appointment completes a new board of directors of the company owned by the Damen family, headed by Arnout Damen, who recently became CEO. The other two board members are Andreas Fluhrer (CTO) and Tom Touber (CFO).
“We warmly welcome Marc on board,” said the CEO of the Dutch group. “With his experience and background, he is certainly able to take operational excellence within our company to an even higher level.”
Damen Shipyards Group operates 36 shipyards and repair yards and employs 12,000 people. To date, he has delivered over 6,500 ships – from tugboats, workboats and military vessels to merchant ships, dredgers, ferries, and yachts – in over 100 countries. Its superyacht branch owns the Amels, SeaXplorer, and Yacht Support brands.
